LR 2.6 and existing DNG's from Canon EOS 7D

Hi everybody

I just updated my Lightroom to version 2.6 which (finally) supports my Canon 7D.
Previously with version 2.5 I have imported (and converted to DNG’s) raw files from this camera. I still have the original raw files from the camera.
My question is if I have to re-import and re-convert to DNG these files back into Lightroom in order to benefit from LR compatibility with Canon 7D.
Thank you in advance.

Hi,

The same thing happened to me with my Olympus E620 camera. I did not re-import them. The DNG format worked just fine for development. However, you won't be able to use the camera profiles for canon, but the new Adobe Standard profile is more than adequate as a starting point. Matt Kloskowski of NAPP fame has a great blog on Lightroom at "lightroomkillertips.com". He just had an article on DNG conversions. You may want to take a look over there. He has a great web site for lightroom tips!

Dennis
